“Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.”
- Romans 12:2 HCSB
I’m just a dog, but I notice things.
I notice how easy it is for folks to follow a trail just because it’s there.
One scent leads to another, and before long, you’ve wandered far from home without even thinking about it.
I’ve done that myself—nose down, chasing what smells good in the moment, not what’s right.
That’s what this world feels like sometimes.
A thousand scents pulling you this way and that.
“Follow me,” they say.
“This is better.”
“This is easier.”
And if you’re not careful, you start to look like the trail instead of the One who made you.
But my human… he calls me back.
He doesn’t just tug the leash—
He changes how I see,
How I think,
How I follow.
The old trails don’t smell the same anymore.
What once pulled me doesn’t have the same hold.
Not because the world got quieter… but because His voice got clearer.
“Do not be conformed,” He says.
Don’t just blend in with the pack.
Don’t let the world shape your steps.
“Be transformed…”
That’s deeper.
That’s not just behavior—
It’s heart.
It’s mind.
It’s something only God can do.
Like taking an old, worn path in me and making it new.
“By the renewing of your mind.”
I think that’s like when my human teaches me again and again where to walk, where to sit, when to stay.
At first, I don’t get it.
I pull.
I wander.
I forget.
But over time… I learn his ways.
I trust his voice.
I stop chasing every scent and start following him instead.
And something changes in me.
I’m still a dog… but I’m not the same dog.
I don’t just react—I respond.
I don’t just wander—I walk with him.
The world still calls, but it doesn’t lead me anymore.
Because I’ve learned this:
The safest place isn’t the strongest scent… it’s the closest step to my master.
And when I stay near him, I begin to understand what is good…
And acceptable…
And perfect.
Funny thing for a dog to say, I know.
But then again… maybe that’s the point.
Stay close.
Listen well.
Let Jesus change how you think.
You won’t just find a better path…
You’ll become a different kind of traveler.
Be transformed.
Keep the Faith… Carpe Diem
