“They said to him, ‘We have only five loaves here and two fish.’ And he said, ‘Bring them here to me.’”

I was sitting on the porch this morning watching my human drink coffee and read his Bible.
Then I saw that look.
That look he gets when something he’s reading starts messing with him.
He read about Jesus feeding the 5,000.
Five thousand men.
Plus women.
Plus children.
That’s a whole lot of hungry people.
And what did they have?
Five loaves and two fish.
Now, I’m no mathematician, but even an old dog can figure out that’s not enough food for over 5,000 people.
Truth be told, it sounds a whole lot like a Happy Meal trying to feed a football stadium.
But then I noticed something.
Jesus didn’t ask them to produce enough.
Or go buy enough.
He simply asked them to bring Him what they had.
That got my attention.
Sometimes we look at what God has called us to do and think, “Lord, I don’t have enough.”
Not enough strength.
Not enough money.
Not enough wisdom.
Not enough courage.
Not enough faith.
Not enough anything.
And maybe that’s the point.
Jesus never needed what they had to be enough.
He just needed them to be willing to put it in His hands.
Five loaves.
Two fish.
Thousands of hungry people.
And Jesus.
That’s all it took.
I guess there’s a lesson here for all of us.
God isn’t asking us to figure out how He’s going to do it.
He’s asking us to trust Him with what we’ve got.
A little faith placed in the hands of a big God can become something far greater than we ever imagined.
So today, don’t stare at your five loaves and two fish and decide they aren’t enough.
Bring them to Jesus.
Let Him do the math.
Because when Jesus gets involved, “not enough” has never been much of a problem.
In fact…. there’s usually leftovers.
