Old Lazy Dog brings a different view of faith, life, and the struggles we face in the marketplace and our day to day lives…while we strive to go deeper in our faith walk, put our faith to work, and see God at work around us on a daily basis.

Constantly

Constantly

For some reason, of late, my heart and my mind keep going back to today’s text. I think this verse is important for us to read and know… and internalize and put into action.

Just after Jesus was called up to heaven to be seated with God, the Father and just before Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit, we see the remaining disciples together, constantly in prayer.

“They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary, the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.” - Acts 1:14 NIV

Before God moved through the Holy Spirit. Before Peter addressed the crowds and the number of Believers in Jesus grew by the thousands, the disciples were together constantly in prayer.

Constantly.

This is not the first time that we have seen prayer lead to great miracles:

Jesus praying in Gethsemane prior to the blood and the cross... and the resurrection

Jesus praying on the mountainside just after the feeding of the 5000 men (not counting the women and children) and just before His walking on water (and Peter walking on water ever so briefly too).

This is not the only time that we, the reader, are reminded to pray constantly... to pray without ceasing.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV

Seems to me that if we want to see revival... that if we want to see God do a great work... if we want to see God move, then it begins with us on our knees in prayer (individually and together)... like the beautiful 100 year oak trees of old cover a canopy road, covering our little part of the world in prayer.

Constantly.

When was the last time that we prayed like that ~ Purposely seeking God’s will and direction… Specifically asking Him to lead and move… Consistently sharing our hearts withHim, listening to Him and dwelling in Him… Expectantly waiting on the Lord.

Constantly.

Keep the Faith... Carpe Diem

“Therefore, you should pray like this:
Our Father in heaven,Your name be honored as holy.
Your kingdom come.Your will be doneon earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.[For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]” - Matthew 6:9-13 HCSB
