Old Lazy Dog brings a different view of faith, life, and the struggles we face in the marketplace and our day to day lives…while we strive to go deeper in our faith walk, put our faith to work, and see God at work around us on a daily basis.

The Living: A Dog's Perspective

The Living: A Dog's Perspective

I was lying on the floor… watching and listening to my human read again.

He smiled this time.
Not like Friday.
Not like yesterday.

This smile felt… alive.

I tilted my head.

He read out loud, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here… He is risen!”
- Luke 24:5–6

Now I may just be a dog… but I know the difference between something dead and something alive.

Dead things don’t move.
Dead things don’t respond.
Dead things don’t come when you call.

But the Living One?
Oh… He moves.
He calls.
He breathes life.

And on that Sunday morning…

The stone got rolled away.
Death lost its sting.
The grave lost its victory.

I lifted my head a little higher.

Because I’ve seen my human when something is lost…
And I’ve seen him when something is found.

This… this was found joy.

On Easter Sunday,
Hell was defeated.
Faith was vindicated.
The prophets were validated.

That means everything my human had been hoping in… wasn’t just hope anymore.

It was truth.

I wagged my tail.

Couldn’t help it.

On Easter Sunday,
Sin lost.
Shame died.
Hope soared.
Love won.

Now listen… I don’t understand everything.
But I understand this—

When my human calls my name, I come running.
Not because I have to… but because I trust him.

And now…
The Living One is calling.

Why?

Because Jesus is alive.

Not a memory.
Not a story.
Not a shadow in a grave somewhere.

Alive.

I heard my human say it… strong this time:

“He is risen.”

And then louder—like it mattered more than anything—

“He is risen indeed!”

I barked.

Seemed right.

But then my human got quiet again.
And I knew that tone.

Decision time.

Because if He’s alive…
You don’t keep searching in dead places.

You don’t stay in the graveyard of guilt.
You don’t curl up in shame.

You get up.
You run toward the Living One.

So now… here we are.

Tail still wagging.
Heart wide open.

And you’ve got a decision to make…

Will you keep looking for the living among the dead…

Or will you come… when He calls?

Keep the Faith… Carpe Diem
