Signs Worth Seeing

Signs Worth Seeing

“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.””
- Luke 2:10 NIV

Some signs are easy to miss.
A handwritten note taped to a door.
A directional arrow scribbled on cardboard.
A blinking light on the dashboard that we swear wasn’t blinking yesterday.

And then there are signs we can’t ignore—
The kind that break into our ordinary life and say,
Hey. Pay attention. Something bigger is happening here.

Christmas is full of those kinds of signs.

Long before shepherds heard angels…
Long before Mary felt a kick beneath her ribs…
Long before Joseph tossed and turned, trying to figure out what to do…
God had already started posting signs.

Clear ones. Bold ones.
The kind only God can put up.

The Birth Was Real.

Not a myth.
Not a seasonal fairy tale to go with hot cocoa and twinkle lights.

Luke—detail-loving, doctor Luke—tells us plainly:
A decree went out. People traveled. A census was taken.
A baby was born in Bethlehem, wrapped in cloths, laid in a manger.
(Luke was not writing poetry. He was writing history.)

Jesus entered real space, real time, real straw.

God didn’t send salvation as a dream or a concept.
He sent a Person.
A crying, breathing, tiny, squirming newborn.
A Savior you could touch.

The Birth Was Prophesied.

Centuries before that night, Isaiah wrote,
The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son…

Micah said the Messiah would come from Bethlehem—
that little dot on the map that no one bragged about.
God left breadcrumbs all through the Old Testament.

These prophecies weren’t vague.
They weren’t “someday something special might happen somewhere.

They were specific.
Pinpointed.
Impossible-to-orchestrate signs that shouted:
When He comes, you’ll know!

And then Jesus came—
checking every box God had drawn long before Mary ever whispered, “Let it be.

The Birth Was Announced.

You’d think the King of Kings might send engraved invitations,
or let the palace know first.

But no.
God sent angels to shepherds—
night-shift workers in the fields,
people who smelled like sheep and day-old campfire.

He filled the sky with glory and said,
Good news. Great joy. For all people.

He sent a star to wise men in a distant land, a light bright enough to stir them from home and comfort and move them across deserts and borders.

He used heaven and earth—angels and astronomy—
to make the announcement clear:

The Savior has come. Don’t miss Him.

And Now? The Signs Still Stand.

Every prophecy fulfilled.
Every promise kept.
Every heart changed.
Every life redeemed.

God still whispers,
God still points,
God still calls us to see what He has done in Jesus.

In this season of glowing lights...
May we not miss the greatest sign of all:

A manger.
A cross.
An empty tomb.
A Savior who came just as God said He would.

Keep the Faith… Carpe Diem
