Foolishness

“We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are prudent in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are distinguished, but we are without honor. To this present hour we are both hungry and thirsty, and are poorly clothed, and are roughly treated, and are homeless; and we toil, working with our own hands; when we are reviled, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure; when we are slandered, we try to conciliate; we have become as the scum of the world, the dregs of all things, even until now.”

Have you ever been foolish... done something foolish?

Time for my personal confession of my foolishness.

I do silly, dumb… even foolish things sometimes. 

I would venture to say that most of us do much the same.

I tend to rush into things sometimes… and pray that God then bless my mess. 
Sometimes I make rash decisions and choices that I later regret. 
Sometimes I make quick judgements and decisions about people, then move on. 
Sometimes I get frustrated by people (or an individual) and allow that to affect my mood, much less my witness. 
Sometimes I say things I shouldn't say, think things I shouldn't think, do things I shouldn’t do. 
Sometimes I’m just foolish.

And that’s where the regret for my foolishness lies…

I disappoint myself and feel like I disappoint my Lord.

I only wish that I was more of a fool for Christ than I was a fool about the things of this world.

A fool with a heart willing to truly give everything to Jesus regardless of what the world around me might say or think.
A fool willing to risk embarrassment to share my faith with a lost friend, co-worker, acquaintance, family member
A fool willing to take up my cross daily and follow Jesus.
A fool willing to die to self and live for Christ.
A fool less worried about myself and more worried about others.
A fool willing to go therefore.
A fool willing to forgive as I have been forgiven.
A fool for Christ.
