Old Lazy Dog brings a different view of faith, life, and the struggles we face in the marketplace and our day to day lives…while we strive to go deeper in our faith walk, put our faith to work, and see God at work around us on a daily basis.

“You planned evil against me; God planned it for good to bring about the present result—the survival of many people.” - Genesis 50:20 HCSB

It’s All Good” is a statement that I found myself saying numerous times a day when I would face frustrating moments or things that could steal my joy in a previous career position. “It’s All Good” became a normal part of most any discussion held with members of my team as they faced similar frustrations and disappointments.

Now, I say it from time to time in discussions that are out my control and/or are decisions made by others that may effect me, my family or my work group.

They also are words that come to life and are given new, even stronger meaning in today’s text:

His brothers despised him and plotted to kill him

Instead of killing him, his brother’s sold him into slavery

Potiphar’s wife falsely accused him

The cup bearer neglected a promise

Seven year’s of famine

Yet, somehow, the experiences in Joseph’s life taught him (and us) God brings good from evil for those who trust Him.

What about us? Do we trust God enough to wait patiently for Him to bring good out of bad situations?

In the midst of the moment, sometimes it’s hard to see it. Sometimes we find ourselves wondering where God is. Wondering why we’re in our predicament. Wondering why our brothers would sell us into slavery?

It may be an unexpected/unwarranted job loss. It may be illness or injury. It may be something effecting/affecting someone you love. It may be a lost dream or an unplanned life change...

But God’s Word reminds us: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.”

In plain language, as we face life’s peaks, valleys and long, narrow winding roads head on, God reminds us that “It’s All Good,” if only we, like Joseph, would trust in Him.

Keep the Faith... Carpe Diem
