Old Lazy Dog brings a different view of faith, life, and the struggles we face in the marketplace and our day to day lives…while we strive to go deeper in our faith walk, put our faith to work, and see God at work around us on a daily basis.

Last night, at the age of 94, my Father-in-law, the Honorable Earl Hutto passed away.

As I think about Earl and his life, my heart cries out “Thank You!”

Whether in DC or in Northwest Florida, at the sports anchor desk or as a committee chairman, or whether at home, in church or on the golf course, Earl was the same. What you saw was what you got... an honest, godly man who lived his life in such a way that he made a difference in the lives of those who crossed his path.

Thank you Earl for the example you were as a husband, a father and a grandfather. There was never a question of your love or your priority: Nancy, Lori and Amy. And later, Ellie, Abbie, Sarah Grace, George and me. You lived and loved well.

Thank You for the example you were- in faith, marriage, fatherhood, friendship and how to live a life of character and integrity.

Thank you for your heart and life of service. As a Congressman, you were a Difference Maker for your country, for your state, and first and foremost, for the First Congressional District of Florida.

And thank you for your example of how to live a life of faith, even in the most public of settings. You walked the walk. It was the main priority of the life that you lived. Thank you for allowing Jesus to live in and through you in all that you said and in all that you did.

Thank you Captain Supreme for a life well lived. We love you. You will be sorely missed.

Well done good and faithful servant... well done.
