Another Love Chapter (Love in Action)
“Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”- Romans 12:9-13 NIV
Well maybe not quite an entire chapter, but a love passage nonetheless. And one I’m reminded of as Northwest Florida continues to try to pickup the pieces after Hurricane Michael.
Most of us know 1 Corinthians 13 as “”The Love Chapter” in which it explains what all love is and is not.
However, there is another love group of verses found in Romans 12. If 1 Corinthians 13 tells what all love is and is not, Romans 12 is “Love In Action”
The action steps:
Love must be sincere
Hate what is evil
Cling to what is good
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love
Honor one another above yourselves
Never be lacking in zeal
Keep your spiritual fervor
Serve the Lord
Be joyful in hope
Patient in affliction
Faithful in prayer
Share with God’s people who are in need
Practice hospitality
All that in just 5 verses. And the list can continue through the end of this other love chapter.
A chapter depicting “Love in Action”... an image of all that Jesus is.
May we take on the mantra of love and shine for the world to see... just like Jesus.
